The Discobolus

The Discobolus (discus-thrower) by Myron was originally casted in bronze in the mid-fifth century. The Roman Replica carved in marble is housed at the Museo Nazionale Romano, Rome (Italy).

The sculpture freezes the time in the unusually calm motion of launching the disc. At Karara Mujassme, we have taken inspiration from the Townley Discobolus, who is rather focussed at the distance at which his wishes to throw the discus.
