Description and care
The HMS Victory is one of the most famous warships in British naval history. Launched in 1765, it served as a first- rate ship of the line in the Royal Navy with 104 guns spread across three decks. It is best known as the flagship of Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
Built from over 6,000 trees, mainly oak, the HMS Victory represents the peak of wooden warship design. After decades of active service, it was retired and is now preserved as a museum ship in Portsmouth, England. Today, HMS Victory stands as a powerful symbol of British naval heritage and a tribute to Admiral Nelson’s legacy.
