Description and care
The Vasa (originally spelled Wasa) was a 17th-century Swedish warship renowned for its grandeur and tragic maiden voyage. Commissioned by King Gustavus Adolphus, the ship was designed to be one of the most formidable warships of its time, boasting 64 bronze cannons and elaborate sculptures. The ship remained submerged for over 300 years until it was rediscovered in 1956 and salvaged in 1961. Today, the Vasa is housed in the Vasa Museum on Djurgården Island in Stockholm, Sweden. It stands as one of the most well-preserved 17th-century ships in the world and serves as a symbol of Sweden's maritime history. The museum attracts millions of visitors annually, offering a glimpse into the past through its impressive display of the ship and its artifacts
